Anyone have experience as a CS major at Carleton?
My S was a CS major - enjoyed it and had no trouble getting a CS job that he has enjoyed for the last two years. I’m guessing that you want more info than that, though.
DS was also a CS major and has been employed since graduating in 2015. As a small liberal arts school, Carleton doesn’t offer the variety of CS courses that you’d get at a larger, tech-oriented university. It also does not offer job fairs that attract major employers. And, apparently because CS is growing rapidly as a major at Carleton, senior “comps” are conducted in teams rather than individually, which can be a negative experience for some. All of that said…DS is employed in Silicon Valley doing interesting work, and it sounds like most of his peers are employed as well.
