How does comp sci at columbia compare to other top tier universities, esp. other ivies?

^we’re better, cuz we’re columbia.

now go away.

well i was just curious…

also… within SEAS, how much resources are devoted to comp sci?

^enough.

10 char.

CC, what’s the reason for all the snark?

I was a CS minor, we had plenty of resources. There are 4 tracks… graphics, systems, AI, and something else I can’t recall. Lots of great professors doing interesting research. Go read the CS website and come back with specific questions.

^ I meant enough as in enough resources, not in the “enough out of you” sense.

It’s kind of annoying when people ask for specific department comparisons across the ivy, because there isn’t too much of a difference, esp for something like comp sci, and on top of that we stress time and time again that your undergrad at columbia will be much much more than your major.

threads like this lead to battles between kids at different schools, measuring dcks in as many ways as possible, this drives any stable headed high schooler away from us. we engage in these battles because no one likes to be sold short. And asking whether a department as good resources… nearly every department has great resources except for new majors / depts. Columbia is not bumblefck U which is good only at x, g, d, y.

which makes sense, but you seem to be a little bitter and sarcastic towards slowpoke91, who I hadn’t seen exhibit any huge stupidity on the board. “now go away” seems a little much.

if someone peed in your cheerios, let me know and i’ll get you a new bowl.

(edit: Denzera, thread policeman! I should have a theme song.)

nope, no special dislike for slowpoke, this thread was just annoying.

weren’t you an AM major?

me? AM major, CS minor.

The fourth track is a split between CS upper div and humanities upper divs.

There are apparently 6 tracks, plus the info science majors.

SEAS has a different core and a different CS core, requiring more math. As for the upper div tracks, they have all but the combination track:
