I was wondering how the Computer Science is at Queens College. I am currently a freshman there and I have only heard that this school is good for Education and being teachers. Does anyone know anyone who has actually graduated from Queens College majoring in Computer Science?

im about to graduate from queens college cs dept. it is a good school for computer scientists alot of funds for research and a good overall reputation of professors however you must have a predefined goal in your mind and then select the courses that you want to, for instance if you want to become a programmer then try to take the some grad courses while your in undergrad although its a commuter college you must hang around and meet ppl in cs dept they really help you, the chair person himself is a very nice and informative person , good luck

How about job opportunities? Like recruitment companies

I always thought for CUNY CS it would be CCNY > Hunter > Queens? Job opprotunties in that order too?

Queens is respectable; but City, and Hunter, moreso. I don’t think you’ll get a lot of “recruiting” per se, at Queens College, but if you graduate with a solid GPA, a job wouldn’t be terribly difficult.

I do have a lot of friends that transferred out of QC, though, either to Hunter, City, NYU (and in one case), Columbia. They transferred mostly because they didn’t like the atmosphere (Queens is boring, no campuses for students, the feeling that they were getting a very vocational education, etc)

I assume that City>Hunter?

What is more important for a recruiter? GPA or work experience?

I dont know any personal people, sorry.

Ijamjl, I for one plan on transferring to CCNY. I originally was going to go to BU but the recent 90M budget cut from SUNYs just convinced me to stay in the city.

Hm…I as well was planning on transferring to uB, but SB was also an option…I hear that they have a solid program there as well.

90 M budget? I’m not keeping up with news lol would you like to inform me?
