Computer Science at Macalester?

Hey guys! I’ve been looking into colleges with vibes similar to Brown (liberal, hipster-y type places), and Macalester popped up in my search! I’d like to major in computer science and according to usnews (don’t judge) and a couple of other sources, their program is pretty good. However, I looked on their website, and they only have a couple of CS courses apparently. I’m kind of confused now, so can anyone that maybe goes to Macalester/anyone who knows anyone that does tell me how their CS program is? Thanks!

I don’t go to Macalester but can help with some of the basic info:

They offer plenty more than a couple courses: https://www.macalester.edu/mscs/courses/

The major: https://www.macalester.edu/mscs/majorsminors/#program-2624

The requirements are a bit light, and the elective offerings are also very infrequently offered - some as little as every 2 years, even if they are core (sometimes required) courses at other schools. I don’t think that going to Macalester for CS would be a top option unless you truly loved the school and were not focused too much on your major.

If you like Brown, you may want to check out the University of Rochester, which features a similar open curriculum and general vibe but a much more extensive CS department compared to Macalester.

Thank you so much !!! I looked into Rochester but I didn’t really like it, idk why
