Computer Science at UCI and UCSD

Hi, looking to transfer to UC Irvine for Computer Science major.
As a transfer student, how long will it take me to finish the degree? Anyone went or is going through this path?
At UCI, do I need to take any Physics courses for graduation? besides the general education Science course.

At UCSD, how long will it take for CS major as a transfer student.

If you were me, which one would you choose, UCSD or UCI?

That depends a lot on how many of the lower division courses and breadth requirements you were able to complete at your CC before transferring (see http://www.assist.org ).

UCI’s CS major requirements are listed here:
<a href=“Department of Computer Science < University of California Irvine”>http://catalogue.uci.edu/donaldbrenschoolofinformationandcomputersciences/departmentofcomputerscience/</a>
UCI’s general education requirements are listed here:
<a href=“Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree < University of California Irvine”>http://catalogue.uci.edu/informationforadmittedstudents/requirementsforabachelorsdegree/</a></p>

Thanks for the links. I completed the IGETC at my community college. In my counting I have to get 36 courses of CS classes. Am I making a mistake in counting or what?
I choose Architecture and Embedded Systems.
None of the CS courses I took at my community college meet the lower division courses, do I take those lower division courses listed?

Looks like you need 18 lower division courses (some of which are math courses found at every CC) and 13 upper division courses (as shown on the sample 12 quarter schedule), for a total of 31 courses. Remember that UCI is on the quarter system, so this is equivalent to about 21 courses at a semester system school.

Which of the lower division courses are covered by courses at your CC and nearby ones, according to http://www.assist.org ? You will normally need to take them after transfer if you cannot cover them before transfer.

I have completed the full IGETC.
Completed Calculus 1 and 2; also completed Linear Algebra.
I took 5 CS courses but only 1 is compatible with UCI’s or UCSD’s lower divison courses.
I think I have to take a lot of lower division courses, but I already know all the materials and know a lot of programming. I have a total of 80 semster units, from which 75 are UC transferable.
What is bothering me is the lower division Computer Science courses like Intro to Programming and stuff. I know all this stuff, took classes at my college, why assist does not list them as compatible is I don’t know.

Which CC are you at, and are there nearby CCs with the courses that UCI or UCSD accepts?

@ucbalumnus‌
I am from Glendale Community College.
There is only 2 courses that is assist certified. No, not even my surroinding colleges don’t offer those. Also, I already got into Irvine, so I guess I will just take it there.

Looks like you can get UCI’s ICS 21, 51, and 52 at Glendale, and ICS 22 at other nearby CCs. The math courses should be readily available.

That still leaves ICS 46, 45C, 53, 53L, 90, 6D, 6B, and Statistics 67 to take after transfer to UCI.

@ucbalumnus‌ That is what I thought, but even though those classes show up in ASSIST, my college no longer has them. Thanks for the help though.
