After reading the ME program at UD thread i thought it was a good time to piggyback and ask the reputation of the Computer Science department. I went to Decision Day on saturday and enjoyed the CS information class we went into, but i would like to know more. Thanks!

My boyfriend is a freshmen at UD this year. He is in the honors program and is a computer science major. He absolutely loves it. He turned down UMD, which has one of the top ranked compsci programs in the country, because he liked the atmosphere at UD so much better. His professors are engaging and he loves what he is working on. He does a lab (writing code and other stuff I do not understand) almost every week, and he just created a computer game with his class. He joined a club for compsci majors and might have the opportunity to be the president next year, as a sophomore! His classes are small and his advisor is amazing and helpful. He loves the flexibility in his schedule because of his AP classes, and might be able to graduate a year early. He has so many opportunities, including an internship that he just started with the University, doing web development for them. He is so excited about compsci at UD, and I highly recommend it!

My son is trying to decide between Delaware and GW. He was admitted to the Engineering school and also honors. Both schools have offered substantial merit scholarships-though Delaware would be cheaper. He thinks he wants to study both computer science and political science-not sure if a double major or a major and minor. Any thoughts as to which school would be better? Also can “classicsguru” let us know what her boyfriends first year class schedule was?
