Hello CC, this is not another "help me make a list" thread (good news)

Well, I love computer science and I really want to study in a school which puts a large emphasis on research. Going by the rankings, I see that top undergrad schools like Carnegie Mellon have incredibly high requirements. I don't think I can get in one of the top schools, and being an Indian hurts badly.

From my research, it seems that universities like Virginia Tech, U Colorado (Boulder), Purdue, and GaTech are good-fit for me. I looked into their websites and I really love those schools. Plus, they are easy to get in (except gaTech and Purdue). I know these schools have awesome Physics programs. But, I would like to know about the computer science program (esp in Virginia Tech). Do they have good tie ups with top industries? Do they offer good internship opportunities? Do they have a large focus on research? And lastly, is computer science program awesome overall?
Any advices from current undergrads would be great!!!

I'm thinking of a dual major: Computer Science + Physics (it's an amazing combo), which is why I chose these schools specifically.

VT is good, and relatively inexpensive for an out-of-state public. Do it and the others fit within your and your family’s cost constraints (try the net price calculators to get financial aid estimates)? Minnesota, Stony Brook, NCSU, and Cal Poly SLO may also be worth considering.
