Computer science: CAS vs COE? + graduating early

What are the benefits of studying/majoring in computer science at the College of Arts and Sciences vs those of majoring in computer science at the College of Engineering? Do graduate schools and employers prefer one over the other? Is it more difficult to major in one school than the other? What are some other differences?

Also, I know that if you have enough AP and IB credits, you can graduate in 3 years instead of 4. Does that still apply if you plan on having a dual-degree? A dual-degree, I believe, takes 5 years to graduate, but if you have enough AP and IB credits, can you graduate in 4 years?

The college requirements are different.

In Arts and Sciences you are required to take courses that satisfy liberal arts breadth, depth, science, historical, etc. A bunch of categories. You also have a language requirement.

In Engineering, you have many more math/science/technical requirements, and less time to pursue liberal arts classes (you have 8 required Liberal arts courses, and can take any extra that you want).

There really is no difference in terms of employment and graduate schools. The core classes for CS in COE and CAS are the same, and so the only differences are your other requirements/classes. It is not more or less difficult in one college or the other (unless you absolutely hate liberal arts courses then it might be easier in Eng.)

If you are a prospective student, it might be easier to get into the COE CS because COE has one of the highest acceptance rates. As long as you have the stats (gpa, sat, sat II) and some good extracurriculars, you have a good shot to get into COE.
