This is a revised version of my first thread, what are my chances of being accepted into the CS of NCSU
I am a rising senior and I plan on majoring in computer science.
SAT: 1160
ACT: 20
GPA (W) 4.36
(UW)3.64
Class Rank: 14/139
80+ volunteer hours
EC:Soccer Freshman Year, Tennis Sophomore Year, Strategic Gaming Club Junior Year, and I’m supposed to be part of the student council senior year
I have a job (full time during summer and part time during school)
AP English 3 , AP Biology,
plan on taking AP English 4 and AP Computer science
I have been taking college classes (4 so far). I plan on taking 2 more.
I am Hispanic and a first generation student.
I know my ACT and SAT scores are not the brightest, I have only taken both tests once. I plan on prioritizing these tests to raise my probability on getting accepted
bump
@jd1209 Check out the accepted freshman class data for the SAT/ACT score range to see what you need to seriously be considered. Your hooks of being a first generation student, working and heritage should help for scholarships and standing out, but your scores need a boost. Hope you make it! Keep us posted!
Remind people in your threads that you are an in-state student, as that is an important application criterion (because NC State is a public university, and thus primarily serves NC residents).
Honestly, your ACT scores are well below the bottom 25% of accepted students. You need to get that up to a minimum of 25 to be considered.
