Computer Science Chances

Hi, I'm an entering senior looking to apply to universities with good computer science departments. So far I have what I believe is a pretty comprehensive list, and if anyone could chance me for the below universities that would be great!

-Cal Poly SLO
-Case Western Reserve University
-U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
-U o Maryland College Park
-U of Michigan
-UMass Amherst
-Purdue
-U of Wisconsin Madison

-The Ohio State University

My stats are:
33 ACT (35 math)
4.20 W GPA, 3.52 U/W

State: Illinois

AP Tests:

Calc BC/AB: 4
Comp Sci A: 4
English Lit & Comp: 5

APUSH: 4

Once again, any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

bump

All matches or high matches

Any extracurriculars?

@blackcops22‌ Sorry this is 5 days after your post. I’ve been the captain of the robotics club for 1 year (will be 2 by the time I graduate) and I’ve been a team captain for the 2 years before that. I spend most of my extracurricular time doing that (10ish hours a week) but I’ll also have 2 years the Mock Trial team and 2 years working stage crew.

I think you would be matches for all universities

@blackcops22‌ Thanks for the input! In that case should I look for one school that is a definite safety just to be careful?

University of Alabama would be a safety, and it would also offer you full tuition and a $2,500 annual stipend as a Computer Science major with your stats. There is a separate forum with a lot of information that you can consult on CC. You might also want to add NC State as a safety.

Your chances are better if your 3.52 is comprised of all As and Bs (no Cs) and your better grades are in your Math and Science classes.

My son has similar stats (but a NY resident), and the advice we’ve been given is as follows:

-Cal Poly SLO - Match
-Case Western Reserve University - Match
-U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - Reach for OOS
-U o Maryland College Park - High Match/Low Reach
-U of Michigan - High Match/Low Reach
-UMass Amherst - Match/Safety
-Purdue - Match/Safety
-U of Wisconsin Madison - High Match
-The Ohio State University - Match

Yes, it is always great to have safeties because if you can’t get into your dream school. Then you’re going to be undecided on decision day and if you cant make a decision, then off to community college to get a degree in something you never want to do. So it is best to always have safeties
