Computer Science Chances

Hi, my name is Huan Lai and I will be applying to NEU College of Computer and Information Science regular decision. I would love it if you could give me an overview of what my chances are for getting into NEU (reach-high match-match-low match-safety)

For BIOs information, I am an Asian male from Boston. On a side note, I have an older sister who graduated from NEU pharmacy a few years back.

GPA (9-11) is 3.12 (74 / 212) (did horribly during 9 and 10, but awsome during 11; around 3.92)
I should do relatively well in 12th grade
SAT: M:740, CR:640, W:660
SATII: Math I: 740, Math II: 730, Physics: 710
APs: US History: 4, Computer Science: 5, Physics: 4, currently taking Calculus
4 honors courses 9-12 (3 in maths, 1 in chemistry)

2 summer jobs (one of which for IBM) and around 100-150 hours volunteering
involved in several clubs and some other activities
a lot of webmaster experience

To add, I would consider programming to be my greatest talent/interest. At the moment, Im quite good at Java, but I also know C, C++, and Visual Basic. And for web-design, I'm also quite good at PHP, HTML and CSS, though I do know VBScript, Perl and JavaScript.
My essay will reflect that interest.

-Thanks!

Right now I think Northeastern could be anywhere from a low match to a high one, but this is by no means definite.

Your test scores and AP's are really good (Above the NEU average), your class rank is within range, and your ECs are good.

As you acknowledged, your GPA is going not going to help you, however your upward trend in Junior year is something to be proud of. Hopefully your first term grades this year will boost your GPA and demonstrate your ability. I would also recommend that you visit campus and make yourself known to the admissions people if you haven't already.

Work hard this year, and you'll get in.

thanks for your words of encouragement! i dont think i have shown much interest so far so i'll have to work on that...

btw, can anyone tell me if NEU has a strong computer science program?
