Computer Science degree with IT certifications

Hey everyone,

I have been doing some research and thought I would ask everyone on how they feel about going for a Computer Science Degree, while having IT certifications. I currently am taking courses for IT Certs (A+, Network+, Server+, CCNA, CCENT, ect.) and my hope was to finish these then attend college for CS so that I would have an extra bit of experience to have on my resume when applying for jobs. But from what I have been reading, the general conscientious is that the two are unrelated, I dont feel like this is a waist of my time in that generally IT and CS revolve around the same concept, just different areas of focus. So my question is what does everyone feel about the combination of these certifications with a degree in Computer Science, I will admit that Mathematics and I do not get along very well and from what I have read, the focus of Software Development is less math intensive, which is what I have been focusing on for my degree plan. Any suggestions or alterations any one would make with this plan?

Thanks in advance,
Victor.
