so i was accepted into the school of engineering, and i want to be a computer science major, but i also have a lot of other interests.
I recently realized that I could be a computer science major (if major is the same as concentration) in LSA, which i'm guessing would be a lot easier.
I was hoping to study abroad and double major (in something like bio or german maybe), so I think switching to LSA would make this more feasible for me.

anyway, I was wondering if/ when it is possible to switch schools and how easy or difficult this may be...

and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I don’t have any advice but I just wanted to let you know that we went through this decision with our son (who was just accepted as a transfer into the CoE for computer science).

My husband is an engineer, so he strongly encouraged our son to go that route. He feels that it will offer more career opportunities. From what I understand there is less math through the LSA option.

Congratulations on your acceptance and best wishes with your future plans!

The core CS classes are the same, but LSA doesn’t require as much auxiliary stuff, like Calc 3 or DiffEq. However LSA has different requirements.

CS-LSA and CSE have the same career opportunities, there’s not really a benefit to either there.

Check out the LSA requirements and the Engineering prerequisites. Whichever you’d prefer fulfilling, go with that. Though keep in mind that if you want to dual major with something in LSA, you have to fulfill all of the LSA requirements anyway (despite what the CoE website says - it’s wrong).
