Hi,
I'm an international student (sophomore) at the Ohio State Uni. I'm planning to switch
to a computer sc engg major. Well, honestly, I just want to major in something that will get me good money and I kinda seem to be interested in computers but I don't want to be sitting in front of a machine my whole life.

Well, I'd LOVE to have a job that will let me do the following:

Lead people. I'd love to be in a leadership position supervising stuff and being in control. I think I'm good at that. I like to pay attention to details and make sure everything is "perfect".

I'd like to interact with people at work and NOT have to be confined to my computer desk the
whole time. I'd like to receive constant feedbacks for the quality of my work so I'll be
motivated to do better every time. I want to hold an important position at my workplace so everyone would know me. I love to be recognized and known since it acts as a HUGE motivator for me.

Could you PLEASE tell me what kind of jobs out there would fit into these criteria? I'm so confused...

Would i be able to do this kind of stuff w/ an MBA after computer sc? coz i don't think i want to major in business now...

Leading and "attention to detail" or making things "perfect" IMO mash. Leaders who seek perfection are often time micromanager and pretty poor managers, because they spend to much time on minutia and ignore the 'get things done' part of their job.

Constant feedback doesn't exist outside of modeling and/or those star-like careers where those doting are you are doing so because you pay them.

Approaching your career like a popularity contest ("hold an important position where everyone knows me") is one way to go I guess. If you are motivated by people watching your every move than you definitly something high profile.

To me, this doesn't sound like a computer based job and I wouldn't suggest computer science. An MBA route? Possibly, but everyone is going to suggest you get work experience before going for your MBA. It sounds to me like you have very little idea on how the corporate world works to even consider an MBA, these degrees are costly and do not gaurantee success, so you want to make sure the timing is right when you do go for it.

From the 3 expectations you gave, and I have listed above, I would suggest the following career paths;

Kindergarden teacher - everyone will love you and consider you in a position of highest authority

Sales/Marketing - constant feedback will be given, mainly by your clients. If you do good even the CEO will know your name.

Business Consulting - you won't start out in the limelight but it can get you there fast, and has a route through business school.

Where are you from exactly? computer science is not exactly a high paying job in the current market. from all your things you've listed does sound like an engineering job at all. Lastly money should not be your career focus, if so then you should be a sex worker.

I think i have alot of things that you are looking for.. i'm very social and like to work with people. I was an engineer.. but now i'm in FT MBA in marketing. It's going to take you a few years to get to where i'm today.. perhaps in the mean time you should really think about rather or not you want to switch to CS.
