Computer Science: Engineering vs LS&A

Is there much of of a difference in degree of dificulty between the 2 colleges?

Not really. LSA is slightly more laxed on some of the “auxiliary” requirements such as stats and doesn’t require the “EECS Electives” (which are mostly technical classes outside of EECS) but all of the core CS classes and the Upper Level Electives are the same between the two departments.

LSA doesn’t require Chem, Physics, Eng100, Math 215, 216 and technical electives. Pretty much required classes don’t involve programming anyways. You can take Stats 250 for both programs, so I don’t know how that part is more lax. CSE is typically harder due to more of the above technical requirements. CSE kids get a BSE degree which some may think is more prestigious than the BS in LSA.
