Computer Science for LSA vs Engineering

I was a Ross pre-admit last year, changed my life plan, took Engin 101, applied for a cross campus transfer to Engineering, got accepted.

However, I want to minor in Spanish so I think doing CS from LSA will be easier for my scheduling.

For computer science job placement, will one letter make any difference on my resume?

As in, will a company take me/not take me if I have a BS vs a BSE?

Thanks

No, it makes no difference.

Well I guess that’s that, thank you

That is what I have heard too.

If you want to work out here in Silicon Valley and can write decent code, no one will care. (In fact, we know several successful programmers who never quite got around to graduating, not that we’d recommend that).

Agree with the other posters, no difference.

I’m doing CompSci through engineering, and I like previous posters, I hear that it doesn’t really matter.

What’s more, I have many friends who get really high paying jobs (90K+ from places like Cisco) with Informatics degrees.

All that really matters is that you know how to code. The most common way to show that is through your own personal coding projects (outside of class, extra stuff). THE MOST common way to share this is through a Github account. More and more, Silicon Valley recruiters are placing more emphasis on having an active Github account, even more than your resume or diploma.

I made a long post about the same dicussion here:

tldr: Doesn’t matter, don’t let any student tell you otherwise.
