I am a full IB diploma program with Maths HL, Physics HL, Computer Science HL, Business SL, English Lang and Lit SL and Language AB Initio SL.
I have an anticipated score of 6 in everything except business which is a 7, plus two points for EE. So my total anticipated score for IB is 39 points. I want to study Computer Science in either the University of Waterloo or the University of Toronto. What are my chances of getting in?
I did the new SAT with a score of 1400/1600.
Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you very much
Your grades should be fine for U of T’s computer science, but the competition gets tougher every year. Last year, it was rumored that they stopped sending out acceptances early on because of the deluge of applications. They have a secondary path to the computer science major which depends on grades in the required first year courses and I suspect that they will start to depend more on that path.
Waterloo requires an AIF form. The AIF form counts for a significant part of the admissions decision. Again, your grades and SAT score are good enough, but it will be the AIF form which makes the final decision. I know that acceptance to Waterloo engineering is much more difficult for international students than it is for domestic students, and I suspect that computer science is as well.
