Computer Science in Weinberg

Can someone in (or who was in or has experience with) Weinberg’s computer science major please comment on it? A few things I’m looking for:

Quality of professors/instruction
Job availability (and ease with which graduates get jobs)
Whether or not I can use AP credits to get out of intro courses
Anything else you deem worth mentioning

Thanks!

The professors range from, as far as I can tell, boring to brilliant, just like any department.

I don’t have any exact figures for you, but you could email someone at the program to find out.

You can use AP credits to place out of some of the mathematics (through 224) and the statistics (310-1) as well as other distribution requirements, but (in 99% of cases) you cannot place out of BA-CS classes (with the exception of the recommended intro to coding classes). I believe the number of required classes is 19, which can include projects!

As above post said, you can place out of Math-224, STAT-210 using AP calculus and statistics credit, but in terms of computer science courses, AP Computer Science will not count towards anything.

Even if you do Computer Science through Weinberg instead of Mccormick, you still take the same exact computer science courses. The only difference is that if you do it through Weinberg, you have other requirements in the liberal arts (Ethics and values, Literature, Formal Studies etc.) while if you do it through Mccormick you have requirements such as Engineering Analysis

Just to clarify, in this case STAT-210 = MATH-310-1
