Well, being at UT Austin is a good thing, since it is a well regarded school local to an area with computer companies. Start looking in the career center where companies come to recruit interns and new graduates, and in the jobs and careers sections of the web sites of companies that you are interested in.

GPA is not the end of the world. But how strong are you in CS? Have you done any side project to put on your resume? That’s more critical than your GPA. God knows there are genius doing poorly in school but they are absolutely genius.

I also want an internship but people have been telling me that I am simply a book nerd.

Try the DOE research centers. Argonne National Lab; Fermi; Sandia, etc… They each have active yet highly competitive internship programs that look great on a resume.

Intel Austin hires a lot of interns from UT to work part-time during school year as well as full time during summer etc. CS majors are common as well as EE.
