I'm trying to switch into computer science and many people are telling me that the introductory programming classes (cs 21?) are weeder classes. Can anybody tell me what to expect from these classes and if a lot of prior knowledge in programming is needed? Thanks.

I will tell you that the School of ICS (Information & Comp. Sci.) is very rigerous in its programming classes. I don’t know if you could call them weeded classes but I know a girl I know who was doing Java, pulled 4-5 all nighters for that class alone. She barley passed too. These classes are rigerous b/c you have 10 wks to learn the material. I took an engr’ing programming class w/ no exp and it nearly killed me. I had NO previous knowledge. If you can I honestly suggest you either slef teach some/take class at a CC.

from what i know

ics 21 and 22 are easy if you have some prior knowledge.

if you don’t, u just gatta be smart.

^I will agree, You will be working your butt off if you have no experience, Good Luck
