Hello,
I am currently going into my second year of college(de anza), and would like to transfer to SJSU as a computer science major. The only problem is that, the highest math that I will finish up to is PreCal before spring 2017. Just wondering if I have to take Calculus before I can transfer.

As you can see on the assist website on the tab “Preparation for the Major”- these are the math classes I need to finish, is it before I can transfer or after?
To be a competitive applicant you need to have as much as the major prep done by Spring 2017 which includes the Math. I would talk to an advisor at your CCC since they would be most familiar with SJSU’s transfer requirements. I would assume you need to have at least Calculus completed.
It is best to take as many of the listed math courses as possible before transfer, since having to “catch up” on the math courses (30->31->(129A and (32 or 142 or 161A))) could result in delayed graduation if there is not enough room in your schedule to take them along with the upper division CS courses and other requirements.

Be aware that the CS major is one of the more competitive majors for transfer applicants at SJSU:

The software engineering major is somewhat less competitive.
