I'm majoring in computer science and wasn't able to see the department when I took the tour. I am actually going again to specifically look. Does anybody know how good this department is? I heard it is supposed to be very good because it jointly uses the same buildings as the engineering department.

Kami-
We took a tour this past week and the tour guide knew nothing about CS. Thanks for sharing that the classes are in the engineering buildings. Those looked nice.
Can you post again on this site after your visit to the comp sci dept and share your insights. Thanks.

Sorry about the mix up. Computer science is actually taught in Smith hall not the engineering building which i believe is dupont. The faculty seemed really good. All of them are involved in some kind of research and many undergraduates get involved along with graduates. They have a lot of research laboratories jointly with the engineering department and their own separate research laboratories for other things. Smith hall was mostly classrooms and i wasn't able to go into the lab rooms, but i believe they use the same resources as the computer engineering department which is a really good thing given the rep of their engineering department. They also had a wide range of concentrations to choose from and the faculty to back up each. They seemed to emphasize on really good things and what the impact of computer science can do for theory, AI, networking, etc. Overall, the program seemed very good, at least to me.
