Just curious what the common prerequisites are for a typical computer science master's program. In other words, if one had a degree in Philosophy, what other courses would he/she have to take in order to be accepted to a masters cs program?

anyone know? I’ve searched a lot for this answer and cant quite come up with it. Anything will help. Thanks.

Most CS programs expect students to have undergraduate degrees in CS, math, or engineering, but they do accept students beyond those majors if the math and CS preparation is advanced. As you probably found out, some programs are vague about their requirements. I did find the following, however. Minimum requirements were the same for both master’s and PhD, with the PhD requiring a higher GPA.

Minimum Requirements:

BS in CS or related field

Course Experience Needed:
Data Structures
Programming Languages
Computer Architecture
Discrete Structures
Operating Systems
2 semesters of Calculus
