I am going to be a mathematics major at Georgia Tech starting this fall. As of now, I'm going to be an applied mathematics major. I'm also interested in computer science. I would like to at least minor in computer science. With this being said, does anyone recommend one of the math concentrations over the other for fitting in this minor? The discrete path has it built into the requirements, while the applied path allows for several electives that could probably be used to meet the minor requirements. However, is one more convenient over the other? And is there a way to double major in mathematics and computer science? It seems like it would produce an extremely tight schedule, but I would be interested in looking into it if it's possible. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

definatly discrete math. Discrete math is basically theoretical computer science. Also, because discrete math has many CS core requierments, as well as free electives, you could very easily pick up a minor in CS or even a double major if you have AP credit

I’ve talked to my cousin, who has worked for some of the big names in the industry (ie Oracle), and he says that they love hiring grads with discrete math experience. It is less narrow than pure CS majors but teaches the correct way of looking at programming problems.
