Computer Science or Information Technology

I'm not really sure what the difference between the two are. Like what type of jobs can I get with a degree in Info Tech that I can't get with Comp Science and Visa Vera.

You can find out what Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Information Technology are all about at this site:

[Curricula Recommendations — Association for Computing Machinery](http://www.acm.org/education/education/curricula-recommendations)

Computer Science programs generally teach you applications development, theory (math), systems and hardware. CIS programs are generally business programs with computer science or CIS courses thrown in. Information Technology is more about using existing tools and applications.

An information tech degree may teach you how to use and administer a particular type of network of virtual machine environment or database product or other application. A computer science degree usually won’t teach you about a particular product in detail - it will try to cover the class of products and some of the theory of that class of products.

A database CS course could cover relational algebra, SQL, history of databases, etc. An InfoTech course would probably cover a particular product such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server and go into detail about administration: setting up a database, adding users, creating additional storage areas, tuning, security, etc.
