Hey guys! I am so excited about applying to college next year. I was wondering what your plans (computer science majors). What college? Do you plan to got to grad school? Any programming projects that you are participating in over the next year?

Many young programmers participate in USACO. Also, what programming languages do you guys like to use? I really like to use Lisp programming languages as well as Lua.

Senior graduating and going to college for a BS, maybe an accelerated MS. No grad school beyond that unless it is paid for by a company.

If I have learned one thing, it is that it is not about how many languages you know, but developing good programming habits. While walking into college knowing 15 languages certainly can’t hurt, I think you really only need 3-5 to get exposed to the needed ideas.

Make outside projects. Colleges will love them, and they are a truly great experience. I have done multiple extensive projects, and they have helped my programming and project management skills more than anything else.

I currently am making a PHP/SQL content management system for a nonprofit. It was originally service hours and I will be completing it over the summer.

In terms of favorite languages, I love the design of Java as many do.
