Hi, I've been really interested in major in computer science(probably the one in CLAS) in UF.
I have heard about and looked up much information about the controversy event of the plan to reorganize the computer science department in 2012. But I found it difficult to know the truth since there're so much information in plenty of versions on the Internet. What is the truth and/or the outcome of the event in short? Did the overall quality of computer science program in UF be affected since then?

The change (which didn’t happen) would have had little impact on undergrad students. It would have eliminated TA positions (which would have impacted students going for Phd’s and such); combine the department with the EE department, which would have eliminated admin/tech support folks; and required faculity to do more teaching and less research.

SInce it didn’t happen, and UF’s weathered the finacial cuts, I would expect it’s business as usually.

@Gator88NE Thank you for the clear explanation! Then there is no worry:)
