I've decided to attend UCR in the fall and I had some questions about the computer science major. What kind of classes will I be taking my first year? How easy/hard are the classes? Will it be difficult to sign up for all of the classes I need? What do the classes consist of? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

@TonyThaTiger: Take a look at this sample plan http://student.engr.ucr.edu/CS%202009.pdf

Also, use this link to read about specific requirements [Computer Science and Engineering](<a href=“Computer Science and Engineering by University of California, Riverside - Issuu”>Computer Science and Engineering by University of California, Riverside - Issuu)

just a heads up, if you take this guy name Linard for a CS class(i.e. CS12, CS61), get ready for HELL.

I forgot what class these professors taught, they are hard and boring, did not make the learning process fun at all!

Marek Chrobak
Tao Jiang

This guy, FUN class, VERY nice and cared about teaching!

I’m a CE major, and it’s overall, it will be hard but can be fun and rewarding. You’ll be balancing math, along with my CS courses, and usually english and/or a breadth. first one is CS10 which is basic C++ programing. lots of hard work involved but if you get involved in the BCOE learning communities and make friends with the people you’re with, it is a lot of help.

and the link in one of the posts above does give you what you should take each quarter.
Linard is strict, Miller can also be tough.

ok thanks to all who answered. one more question though. how is the math placement exam scored and what score do I need to enroll in the proper math class for a computer science major?

I’ll be attending UCR in the fall and I’m going to be a CS Major as well :)
