So I am going to be applying as an undergrad for UC’s computer science program, and i want to know if taking Pre-Cal in high school is required. I don’t really want to take pre-cal because then i would have to double up on two math classes (trig and pre cal) which i dont want to do. I have a decent ACT score and a pretty good GPA so would not taking pre cal lower my chances of getting in?
Hum can you explain the usual progression in your HS? Here was my dd’s HS
F: algebra 1
S algebra 2 hon, geometry
Jr: precalculus
Sr:Calc BC
College: multivariate Calc
I guess the question is will you be prepared to take Calc 1 when you enter college? In other words, does your school do Alg1, geom, alg 2, trig, calc?
The curriculum assumes that is where you start
