ok so i think i want to be a software engineer, which would be better for this, cs-software design option, or cs-science option? i know software design sounds obvious, but i heard that employers don't like people with software courses b/c they want to teach the employee about their own stuff etc, btw its at UH

Looks like both options have the same 34 credits of required CS courses, plus nine credits of CS electives.

Science option adds multivariable calculus and an elective math course, and two physics courses. Software design option adds instead two software engineering methods courses (beyond the intro course in the required list). From an industry software development standpoint, it probably does not make too much of a difference in most cases (though if you want to go into scientific computing or game development, the science option would likely be better).

Either way, you may want to include the networks course (4377) in your CS electives.

I regularly hire CS grads out of college and I most certainly prefer additional software engineering courses (not to be confused with Computer Science courses) to anything else. I do not find any particular use for additional math coursework or math minors (though lot of them do it) in business application development.

Of course, if the OP is really interested in both, then why not take the courses for both, if there is room in the schedule (it is two more courses than the science option, four more courses than the software design option)?
