Computer science summer program?

I have a younger sibling (currently in 8th grade) who is looking for any good computer science -oriented summer programs that exist? He said he tried looking but couldn't really find any... does anyone on here know of some (that will accept people between 8th-9th grades)? We're from Long Island NY if that means anything. Thanks!

Sorry to take this in a new direction:

My brother is interested in taking a CTY class over the summer for 3 weeks, a science course (his main area of interest) – either an electrical course, in which they make robots, or a computer science course, b/c he thinks he wants do computer programming as a potential career.

However, his other primary interest is baseball. Because the CTY course would be in the middle of the summer (mid July-early August, he can only do session #2) he wouldn’t be able to really play baseball. As he did last summer, the plan was to continue playing for a Long Island travel team during the summer (which includes a bunch of tournaments and such) & also volunteer for 4 weeks at a baseball clinic in our town, primarily aimed at helping younger aged kids improve their skills.

So, I’m not necessarily asking for opinions in regards to college (seems premature for that), but I just thought I’d ask generally if anyone had a recommendation of what you think I should say to him? I feel bad, b/c he would ideally love to do both, but it just isn’t possible. He so wants to take the summer course b/c he loves science and it’d be something new and different and informative and fun, though he’d then have almost nothing to do for the remainder of the summer. He loves baseball too, so it’s not that that would be a drag, but it seems like he wants to try out something new… I’m just not sure what to tell him!

You can check out iD Tech Camps. They have locations nationwide, including NY.

Thank you SO much! That program is offering classes at a university in our county for the first time ever this year, and my brother is going to enroll in one or two of those courses. Because it’s local, he can simultaneously take the classes & play baseball! He’s really excited, and you saved my family a whole lotta stress!

Yeah! Glad to have helped! :-)
