Computer Science Transfer (IVC to UCI) HELP

Hi,

First post here, I plan on transferring to UCI from IVC in Computer Science and just want some requirements clarified. I already submitted my TAG and plan on submitting the standard transfer submission in November.

So I took Math 3A in the summer at IVC and now I am currently taking Math 3B which is a pain and I screwed two test already. So it seems that I have to withdraw, how severe is the impact of one W?

I plan on taking Math 3B again next semester (Spring) however if I do that I will have to skip Math 26 (Linear Algebra) is that a requirement for transfer to UCI? I wasn’t sure on assist, please let me know. I am so stressed about this!!

My GPA is at a 3.7 currently, my overall total is 79.50/119.25 units according to UCTAP planner.

So I have been taking a bunch of classes for the major, here is a list of everything I took so far:
C PROGRAMMING
INTRO TO PYTHON
C++ PROGRAMMING
JAVA PROGRAMMING

TRIGONOMETRY
PRE-CALCULUS
ANALY GEO/CALCULUS I(I)

AMER HIST FROM 1870
HISTORY OF PHOTO
INTRO TO PHYS ANTHRO
Intro Env. Studies

INTRO/COLLEGE WRITNG
WRITING CONFERENCE
COLLEGE WRITING 1

Currently Taking:
INTRO TO ERTH SCIENCE
COLLEGE WRITING 2
COM ORG/ASSM LANG I
ANALY GEO/CALCULUS II (WILL HAVE TO DROP)
AMERICA AFTER BOMB

Next Semester:
CS 41
PSYC 1
CS 40B
And I will have to do Math 3B again so I can’t take Math 26 as I initially planed.

So please let me know if I need to take Math 26 linear algebra for TAG or admission to UCI. I am confused by what assist says as it says No course articulated or linear algebra

Appreciate the help!

Thanks

Other questions I got:

  1. I took some 0 units Supervised Tutoring courses I listed them in my TAG but I am unable to list them in the standard transfer admissions page as 0 units, it gives an error. Should I still list them?

http://web2.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=2&sia=IRVINE&ria=UCI&ia=UCI&oia=IRVINE&aay=15-16&ay=16-17&dora=CS does not list IVC MATH 26 as a required course for transfer, but it is in the additional courses. It is best to take all of the additional courses you can before transfer, because you will need to take them after transfer otherwise, which may delay graduation. So take IVC CS 10, 37, 38, 40A, 40B, 41 and MATH 26 before transfer if you can.

“No course articulated” means that there is no course at IVC that satisfies the specified course requirement at UCI.

Appreciate the response, It seems that I will have to withdraw from Math 3B this semester due to my current progress in the course and will have to take it next semester but obviously that will prevent me from taking Math 26.

Since I will not take Math 26 at IVC, I will need to take the equivalent at UCI?? And by delayed graduation, is that referring to my delayed graduation at UCI? So for instance an additional quarter at UCI?

Thanks

Yes, you would have to take UCI MATH 3A or I&C SCI 6N to graduate from UCI in CS if you do not take IVC MATH 26 (= UCI MATH 3A) before transfer. Whether that delays graduation depends on whether it is part of an important prerequisite sequence and how many other “catch up” courses you need to take after transfer (the “no course articulated” ones).

What programming courses should I be familiar with when I enter UCI? I took C++, C, Python, and Java at IVC but in reality they were super easy and I didn’t really learn much. So what languages should I review during the summer to succeed in UCI?
