Computer Science Transfer (Rejected & Waitlisted Only)

Good evening everyone. I notice that it has been a rough couple of weeks since the transfer decision. With some good news for individuals, to even bad news for many.

Sad to say, I am part of the bad news. So I have been in community college for a long time. Finishing Spring 2021 as being my 3 years studying Computer Science.

As a CS-interested person, I have been noticing these couple of weeks of decisions, that getting into a Cali school has been difficult.

I got rejected by SJSU, SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, UC Berkeley, and UC Davis. I got waitlisted at UCI, UCSC, and UCSB.

With only two other college decisions from UCSD and UCLA coming out this week, I am scared that I would not get into any UC schools.

I don’t know what to do if the worst does happen?

( * I have done all my prereqs from all schools. Have a UC transfer GPA above 3.5+. *)

I’m sorry to hear decisions haven’t gone well. Did you apply to other CSUs that you got into? Or are these the only schools to which you applied? CSUs are still really great schools, so I know that you may have had higher hopes but they definitely aren’t a bad option. Also, there are still many universities that are accepting transfer applications.

I’m guessing you’re probably a CA resident wanting in-state tuition, but there are many options all over. I would even suggest the University of Nevada, Reno (where I’m transferring away from but still love it here). Comparable CS program to the SDSU (US News and World has them tied for CS) and CA residents get discounted tuition. They accept transfer applicants all the way until July 1st.

Whatever happens, things will work out! CS is a great field to be in and there will be opportunities everywhere!

Do you have igetc completed? If you don’t get into ucsd or ucla, you probably should stay a 4th year at cc to finish igetc. Apply to the same schools that you did before and maybe some csu’s too. Also did you tag ucsc, or davis? You should have to get guaranteed admission to one of those.

I will be having my igetc completed before the end of Spring 2021 ( Got like 1 class to fulfill that this sem). I didn’t get a certification… Don’t know if that is required, but as of now, I will be complete with igetc.

As for TAG, I have not applied to any schools. Missed the deadline before applying.

TAG would get you in so long as some UC’s honor them.

Just read your story, that’s truly sad. I was curious how things played out. Did you get into UCSD or UCB?
