Since being accepted to school's I've been researching and visiting a LOT to help trim my list. I was originally deciding between BU and NEU for CS, but decided NEU has the better program. I was also accepted to UMass Amherst, however. With scholarships applied, UMass will cost me (out of state) about 15K/yr less than NEU, but money isn't a huge issue. I'm not very excited about the ugly UMass campus and rampant party scene; I loved NEU's campus and I want to be in Boston.

But, I mostly want to hear about the undergrad CS programs. UMass's grad program is ranked 20th in the nation...I don't know how much trust to put in those rankings but 20th seems impressive. If anyone knows anything about either program or can offer me some help in my decision I would appreciate it greatly!

We visited both NEU and UMass this weekend. My son is going to apply for the Computer Science programs. Can you share where you ended up going and how your experience has been so far? Thank!
Noetheastern curricula are built around co-op employment mixed in with your school terms (you will take four academic years’ worth of courses over five years, with co-op employment mixed in). Co-op employment is optional at UMass (of course, students not doing co-op could seek shorter term summer jobs).
So what you think of co-op employment should be an important factor in your decision.
Do you have direct admission to the CS major? If not, check the criteria for entry to the CS major at each school.
