Computer Science Undergrad program

Hi All,

considering application last minute to Georgia tech.
Here are some questions and information is helpful.

  1. is Computer Science BS degree program only available at College of Computing in Georgia tech? is there one in Engineering school as well?

  2. What are some of the merit scholarships that are available for OOS students?

  3. If student applies to " College of Computing" and if deferred or rejected, will they consider for another major in a different school?

  1. Yes. There is computer engineering in the engineering dept.
  2. Provost, will give you an instate rate. You are automatically applied to scholarships when you apply to GT.
  3. Yes. You list the majors you are interested in.

Thank you for answering all questions.

for #2) Provost scholarship - does this require FAFSA to be completed to be considered for scholarship?

QUESTION 3, you will not be rejected for a particular major because GaTech admits you to the university as a whole, and you can change majors, although you may need to wait on some transfers, due to crowding in CS. If you declare computer engineering or CS, that will not change the outcome that much on whether you get in. If you say nuclear engineering, it might help a tiny bit to get in, but mostly your math scores, math grades, and math skills are what are going to get you in at GaTech. There is no issue transferring within engineering, so you can also go in undeclared in engineering. But if you really want to be in the College of Computing, you may want to say that, and know that about half of the freshman class in the College of Computing has been OOS students lately.

There is also a FIRST robotics scholarship at GaTech.

What state are you from? Most GaTech Alumni groups around the USA offer a merit based scholarship as well to GaTech.
