Computer Science vs. Computational Media?

What is the difference between computer science and computational media major?
How good is GT's computational media compared to other colleges with similar programs?
Is it possible to double major those two? If not, is it possible to major computational media and minor computer science?

bump

Thanks @Aguileon‌ for posting this. I would like a similar answer.

As a current CS student with friends who are also in CM, I think I could answer this. From my understanding, CM is a lot of designing games and stuff of that nature. If your dream job is to work at EA or somewhere along those lines, CM is for you! It is not as much coding as you would get in CS. If you are not aware about threads in CS, take a look at their website. Pretty much though, CS students take 2 threads while CM takes only 1 (the 1 being a less technical thread) then those in CS majors. If you love coding though, please stick with CS as employers like it better in my opinion. For example, during the career fair, there was a student in front of me talking to a recruiter and when they told them they are a CM major, they were asked to please explain the major to them as it is not as common as CS. Don’t think that you won’t do well in CM since thats not true at all though! Take a look at this page for CM (http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/colleges/coc/ic/ugrad/bscm/geninfo.php</a> )

If that is YOU, then do what you love. CM is also in the same college of computing as CS. I can’t really talk about how well it is compared to other colleges program since I never looked into it but if your good at what you do, graduate at GT, and become one helluva engineer, you will find a the job for you.

To answer your last question, they are separate majors so Im almost sure you could double major or grab a minor in one. If you love CS, getting the minor may not be too bad either since you would already have to take some of the required classes. I would find out from your advisors though since I can’t say that what I just wrote is 100% true but I believe I am. Also, CS is a very very very popular minor for all majors so getting into classes may be difficult. What I would look into is to major in CS and minor in CM if you love programming but still want that design aspect. Hope that helped :)
