Hi, so, I was told that the job I want to do doesn't care if I'm cs or ce (it go either way in terms of classroom knowledge).

So my question is, which is easier? Which is a better selection in case I lose the job I currently "have"?

What matters more is the selection of advanced courses you will take. At schools where there is distinction, computer engineering tends to have a more hardware emphasis than computer science, but you need to check your school to determine the actual differences.

Obviously, you want to take more hardware courses if you want a hardware job, or a software job working close to the hardware (operating systems, device drivers, compilers, embedded systems, etc.). Courses generally useful for software jobs include algorithms, operating systems, networks, software engineering, database, and security.
