Computer Science vs. Criminal Justice

Which major would be better for my job prospects?

Well they both start with a C…so you can’t go wrong.

Both are very Cool subjects.

You would make more money with CS if money is all you care about.

Depends on what work environment you want.

Do you want to be out on your feet as a cop, or behind a desk as a programmer?

Or you could use CJ to go to Law school.

CS hands down. I’m not sure what a Criminal Justice major would actually do (cop?), but CS is one of the most versatile and powerful engineering majors you can get.

Criminal justice would serve your better for a cop, but in my city, all you need is good physical health and a high shcool degree. CS is pretty cool, too, but do I really want to be a typical Asian?

Police need more people with CS degrees. Cyber crime is on the rise, peeps.

Does it matter that other Asians are doing CS?

bump please

Without knowing your specific career goals I’d say Computer Science. Are you looking at cyber crime? If you could tell us more about what you are hoping to do we could probably offer better advice. And I wouldn’t worry about being the “typical” anything - it is your life! Regardless, LE is always looking for smart folks with clean backgrounds.

Uh, yeah, I was looking into cybercrime and for some crime that is high tech. Why do I want to be into cybercrime? It’s because I have had viruses attack my computer and I hated it. I never got my identity stolen or whatever, but what if I did? I want to prevent those things from happening to people and help those who have been attackby seeking justice!!!

go into computer science, more opportunity for advancement

Yes, Computer Science is definitely where I’d start. Keep your grades up and background clean and look into internships and other opportunities with the FBI, Secret Service, possibly NSA or CIA, etc. As well as independent study in this subject. Work hard and play your cards right and you could have a great career - the future of warfare is electronic.

Computer Science. More opportunities and better paying. You sound interested so why not?
