Computer Science vs Information Science

Hello all,

I am a rising sophomore at Binghamton University and I'm looking to transfer to a more science-oriented school. I am looking at a couple of options and I'd like to get some advice. I am considering applying to either Cornell University's Information Science program, or Stony Brooks's Computer Science program. In terms of job prospects, which would be wiser choice if accepted? I'm inclined to say Cornell because it has the Ivy name attached, plus terrific academics. But I don't know how information scientists fare in the job market versus computer scientists. Stony Brook has a highly ranked Computer Science program as well, but I'd like to stay closer to home (the Ithaca area). "So why not just apply to Cornell's Computer Science program?" I don't think I am a competitive enough student to be accepted into the Engineering School or CAS at Cornell. Since Information Science is a not as common major, and is offered at the not as competitive CALS school, I think my chances are higher and I could still study all the topics in CS. I should also add that I plan on getting my masters in CS or IS and I'm weighing my options with this in mind as well. I'd like to ask the members of college confidential their thoughtful opinions on this.

Thanks!
