Computer Science

<p>Hello fellow blue devils,<br>
I am a senior who was fortunate enough to receive admission to Duke University Class of 2018
I have a few questions about the Computer Science program at Duke and was wondering if any of you would be able to answer them
1) Would those with proficiency in only one language be at a disadvantage?
2) Is a double major with something like Economics possible? Would the two majors be too much to handle?
3) Do you have any suggestions for things an aspiring Computer Science major like myself can do over the summer to ease the transition? </p>

<p>My main concerns are:
1) starting out behind other students as I have not been exposed to Computer Science further than the Java concepts tested on the AP exam
2) overburdening myself with two difficult majors, with my GPA bearing the burden</p>

<p>Any comments on these questions or concerns would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!! </p>

<p>Comp Sci 101 is a pretty easy class. Pretty sure the tests are open notes and it is not that difficult if you spend time doing your coding projects/homework and pay attention. Later compsci classes get kind of hard, but it builds off of 101. Econ is one of the harder majors, but it is a lot easier if you have AP calc credit. Getting a minor in Econ is also pretty easy as you get out of a lot of the harder classes. CompSci and Econ is hard, but definitely doable if you plan your semesters right.</p>
