Hey! I visited yesterday and I really loved what I saw and the what I heard from the students I chatted with. I really loved the paper on one of the doors in the CS wing with a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference. The CS department seems really small but between the Hitchhiker’s poster and the pictures of students as cats on the wall, I felt like I’d love to be a part of it. However, job prospects kind of have to be my first priority since that’s kind of the endgame of college? So I have some questions for current or recently graduated students:
-Did you ever feel like there weren’t enough course offerings in CS (especially junior or senior year, when the classes get more advanced)?
-How difficult would it be if I wanted to take a class at Penn? I’m thinking more if I were a senior or something and wanted to take a class in something very specific.
-What kind of jobs have CS graduates received? What companies have they gone to work for?
Thank you!
I’m not a CS major, but…

Also you can take classes at UPenn, Swat, and Haverford. I would say UPenn would be a little more difficult to do but if you want to you definitely can. You would just have to take more time to work out your schedule, leave time for travel, etc. I have heard that the CS classes at Haverford are pretty good, and taking classes there is really easy. Also, I would recommend reading this post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/haverford-college/1315879-computer-science-major.html

Through my brief research I couldn’t find a whole lot on what CS majors have been up to after graduation, but honestly a lot of your job prospects can be increased if you get involved in STEM organizations on campus and throw yourself at internship opportunities.
