My S. has been accepted. We visited recently from OOS, and he loved the school. It is very beautiful and students/staff are friendly. One concern -- he wants to major in computer science. He wants to attend a liberal arts school, so he knows that he won't get the same depth that he might at a technical institute. But, is computer science a viable major at St. Mary's? Can you get the courses you need? Thanks for any insight.

St. Mary’s is a great college. Your son will definitely get a excellent education there, especially if he is majoring in computer science. All the liberal art majors are highly in depth.

Just wondering, but when did your son hear back? I applied for regular decision and havent heard anything. I know the only other option when applying to st. mary’s was early decision, but if you apply and are accepted, you have to go there.

My s. actually got a letter that said that St. Mary’s is going to grant him an academic scholarship, and although he had not been officially accepted, it was clear to the college that they were going to accept him. The purpose of the letter was to invite him to a scholars day in March. As he is OOS (geographic diversity) and very strong academically, that’s probably why. But, as far as I know, actual acceptance letters won’t go out until late March- early April. Good luck!

Congrats on his scholarship!! Thats what I heard also about when decision letters go out. The application decisions take FOREVER! St. Mary’s is a really good college. My AP Biology teacher was raving about the education quality there. He said its the best education you can get in Maryland. Thats taking other top universities into consideration such as Johns Hopkins and UMD.
