Computer Science

It seems like a lot of people are asking if they should take CSE 3 or CSE 8A, so I'll simplify it for you.

CSE3 is for people who don't really know how to use their computers. They teach basic computer functions and programming. My non-CS major friend took it and only went when they were giving out study guides and got an A in that class. Take it if you don't know anything and REALLY don't think you can learn Java. I feel like CSE3 just puts you behind one more class and you'll regret taking this. It's an easy A, but why take a class you don't need to?

CSE8A is for people who have no experience, but have common sense and logic. I took 8A/B and it was pretty easy. Some people complained that it was difficult, but I really don't see how. They hold your hand and pretty much give you everything you need to learn to program and do the assignments. The fall quarter teacher, Ord, is one of the best lecturers in the department and I think you'd enjoy his class. I didn't take this class with him, but I've had other classes with him. He explains things well and he would show us stupid comics related to the topics we were learning.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh, Simon is teaching CSE3 and she is a great teacher as well.
