is the whole campus wireless? meaning can you get internet access anywhere... is there a special peer-to-peer downloading service to download music (like kazaa), and if so can you download movies etc; i know some colleges have this

and lastly, someone said colgate has a tunnel underground... no 1 mentioned this when i went to campus- does it go all around campus and is it used by everyone?

The tunnel network is not that extensive. We used it when I went on my tour. I'm pretty sure only about 3 buildings are connected to it. Also, the college would never advertise a p2p system as they could get sued by the RIAA. I know some colleges take serious action if they find a student is downloading things illegaly, but these cases are few and far between and probably only occur when the RIAA gives them a phone call.

The campus is almost wireless right now- only the academic buildings need to be wired. All res halls, library spaces, and the COOP are wireless. You still need to log in every time for public spaces but for res halls, you just need to log in once. Probably something with cookies. It'll be entirely wireless by the time you come- including the town itself! So yuo can sit on the lawn on a pretty day....

No peer-to-peer networks.

The tunnel only goes through science buildings like Wynn to Olin to McGregory to Lathrop Halls. Nothing else. It'd be nice to have one that takes you from up the hill down the hill so no one falls on the ice in the winter.... like I did :(

wait then how do u download music? isnt there somthing in college called D++ idk i forgot

There are ways, grasshopper, there are ways. You must search within yourself to find them!

and when i visited, i remember my host had an extensive file sharing program with 1000s of songs

The campus is entirely wireless... a lot of students use MyTunesRedux to share files.

I was told by another student that there is quite a p2p service... no details on it though. =P
