yeah i think the size of the 12 inch will need some getting used to, but i've heard it's perfect for traveling a lot and is really convenient

statistics, you get a discount at the Apple Store if you log in through your SUNet ID. I think that's what zephyr was asking about?!

inuendo..ya i understood what zephyr was saying. I didn't buy it from stanford, thus I didn't get the discount.

How much is the Stanford discount? I know the Apple students discount is 10%. Is the SU one added on top of that?

The SU discount is 12% of the retail price so its not that big a saving.

However, they also offer special packages which supposedly offer a better deal than just the 12% off. Some of them look pretty good, especially when you do some customizing.

I think I'm going for a desktop. I like the cheaper power and it's probably best if I get my work done in my room since I think everywhere else would offer too many distractions.

Yeah -- I'm probably gonna use my computer mostly in my room, but I love being able to use a laptop as... an actual laptop. I don't like to sit in one position for too long (right now I'm typing while lying on my back), so... yay for laptops.

That SU discount looks good, though... d'you get it through the Apple website or some Stanford store or what?

Go to Student Discounts, search for Stanford then log in with your SUNet ID.

anyone getting a dell latitude bundle??

is dell really unreliable? i heard their systems crash often...

i dont think so...my old dell lasted me 4 years and its still working..i've just moved onto better dells :)

my dell is fine but I wish I'd gotten a powerbook just because they look nicer and their applications are more fun.

another thrilling question...ibook or powerbook?

powerbook!!!

definitely powerbook!

a powerbook is an ibook on steroid. and we all know what steroids do =)
enhanced performances!

I don't think an iBook is worth the money. A powerbook is more expensive but it has a much higher performance standard.

One advantage of the iBook is that it is more physically durable. It's less likely to get dented or scratched up. But then, the Powerbook now has the sudden motion sensor to protect the hard drive on impact, so it might all equal out.
