computers at nyu

so do most people at nyu have laptops or desktops? and is it a good idea, or necessary, to have both? because i have a laptop now and was planning on buying a desktop when i got to nyu.

Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand why you would have both? A laptop is ideal. You can keep it hooked up at home, and take it with you to the library or to class if need be.

i like having both because my laptop isnt fast and has a small hard drive... so the desktop would be for storing things like pictures, movies and whatnot....while my laptop would be mainly for working

In that case, I would save the money you would spend on a desktop for a new, faster laptop...

my laptop is brand new... i chose to go for the small size and light weight instead of a lot of RAM.... dont get me wrong i have a great laptop i just think it would be nice to have both.

About 95% of students have a laptop and of those about 25% of those are Macs.

i'm pretty sure nyu requires laptops

No, NYU does not require laptops. However, as was previously said, most students have laptops. There's no need to have a desktop as well. Keep in mind that your space is going to be limited so why have both? It's pretty pointless.

so mac or pc?

I'd say Mac... even most of NYU's public computers are Macs.
