You can also work off of / back up to your home directory – search on the ITC site for more info about it.

You might want to bring an old laptop, if you have one, and put it aside as a backup if needed. Or, if you are stuck while waiting for a repair, you can take a short bus trip and buy a cheap laptop or netbook to hold you over.

Most importantly, make sure you have a reliable source of backup and that you use it regularly. For most people, this will be an external hard drive that is kept in your dorm.

Why are you expecting the university to replace a computer you bought elsewhere? You are ONLY eligible for the loner program if you bought your computer through the university’s computer store (cavalier computers).

If you bought a computer elsewhere and it breaks you need to contact the manufacturer or the retail store. In the mean time you can use the public computer stations or public laptops at the UVa libraries to do coursework.

I wasn’t expecting the university to do anything about it. I know I don’t have the same deal as someone who bought their computer there. I just already have this one, and I know Cav computers can’t support it. So, I was just looking for info in case i needed it.
But, thanks anyway.
