I'm sure we all know about the option to concentrate at Columbia rather than major. I know the school does not in the least discourage this, but how do grad schools/future employers look at this decision? (for a physics concentrator specifically)

a concentration is basically equivalent to a minor at most other schools, though if i'm not mistaken concentrations tend to be slightly more demanding (in terms of credits required) than minors.

While minors tend to be around 5 courses (~15 units) at most institutions, a concentration at Columbia College is around 8 (~24 units) or maybe even slightly more. Most liberal arts majors at Columbia are about 30 units, so you can think of it as minor < concentration < major. However, I'm not sure how grad schools/employers look at it. What field do you want to study in grad school?
