What are you guys interested in studying?
HMMM?

Mathematics, most likely

My other options are classics and biology.

Unfortunately, I just learned that my two college years of Ancient Greek (taken at the U. of C., mind you) will not be counted as part of a classics major. Greek is living hell for me; I do enjoy hell, really I do, but maybe not two more years of it (which would have to be Advanced Greek and a grad course in Greek). Classics could be out.

Time will tell. I can't say that math is a cakewalk, though.

physics and music minor. no, im not azn.

i am going into the classics, i believe. i want to do classical archaeology in grad school if at all possible... i know uchicago has an archaeology program. i tried taking greek at the university here butttt that became a bust. (shakes fist) high school class schedules suck.

i am also really interested in geology, italian, and near eastern languages and civilizations.

i also think its cool that i can learn akkadian at uchicago. ahahaha

UChicago's classics dept is one if the best in the country, by the way.

And you know the U. of C. is in charge of the foremost sourses on the Akkadian language and civilization, with its 10+ volume encyclopedia-type book still being worked on. Plus there is the Oriental Institute. . .

Biochem for me, at least for now.

Classics sounds really cool, but I'm so bad at that stuff. Also really bad at history. I think I'm the typical asian - good at science/math. Well, I love english too, so maybe not THAT typical. Haha.

i want to minor in piano. and maybe french.
i applied as a french major. but most likely my major will change.
i want to study psychology, german, maybe the classics (although i suck at literature stuff, i think it seems fun when i looked around their classics dept on the uchic website). maybe continue chem/bio. iono too many things i want todo -_-;;

oh, katharos. i know.

i know. ;)

hopefully, if i can handle it, bio neuroscience and linguistics [or psych] double major. if AP credit works out, i think it'll be okay. :}

That sounds incredibly cool, yet difficult.

suprisingly, especially between neurosci and psych, there is a lot of overlap, which wouldn't make it as bad as it looks.

True, true. One of the reasons I really enjoy psych, there's a lot of bio stuff in it.

Do you know what career you want to pursue?

either research or some sort of language/brain specialist, perhaps some kind of pediatrics.

is it true that when u apply to chicago they really don't care what major u put down since you're just asked to declare your interests, not major?

yep, nobody has to officially declare until the end of their second year. i love that.

Yeah, I'm thinking about research too - or maybe pharmacy.

Classics, like Tiffany! I've heard so much about the UofC's classics department, and that's part of the reason why I applied. I can't wait to get there and just jump on all the resources. Languages are also a huge interest of mine (especially the ancient).

i interned in our hospital's oncology research pharmacy during my junior year and, believe me, there are some AMAZING opportunities beyond pill-bottle-stuffing if you educate yourself well enough. i loved what went on there... all of it was so groundbreaking and yet, so well-documented and methodical. pharmacy fascinates me... heck, i'd be just as happy there as being a "brain surgeon" [except i couldn't ever do surgery... too short for the table xD]

One of the nations top (graduate level) pharmacy programs that is perennially ranked in the top 5, is in Chicago, but at UIC...

Yeah, I know about UIC, a few of my friends are in GPPA for pharm... but I just couldn't bring myself to apply there - not when I go to high school across the street!
