Hello, I'm just a confused high school kid seeking to know what is the premed.

So my question is...

If you do the prereqs. for the medical school in preparation for the medical school entrance, are you called premeds regardless of your major, that is even though your major is like art or music?

I believe so. At my school, a premed is someone who is taking the courses necessary for medical school because they intend to apply. There is no premed major. You can major in anything you like.

However, I suppose this could be different at schools WITH a premed major...

A premed varies. Someone can become a premed with an english major, biology, etc. . Being a premed only means that you are interested in taking the pre-reqs for Med. school.

When you are in college, there will be a lot of students that will say they are "premed" but the pre-reqs usually weed them out.
